These retailers are observing the Thanksgiving holiday in lieu of extending Black Friday sales even earlier.
This year, Kmart stores will open to the public at 6 AM on Thanksgiving day.
And they'll stay open for a grueling 42 hours straight—a full hour longer than last year for shoppers (and employees).

And while extended Black Friday shopping hours are becoming a trend, there are a growing number of retailers who are committed to giving their employees Thanksgiving Day off.
